Revelation #5 – Going out to find information is a time consuming, old strategy. Training information to find you is an efficient, ‘new’ strategy. Although the RSS feed and Google Alerts have been around for a few years, I never knew their power. Just in the few days I have used them, my mind is brimming with the thoughts of their potential to keep students up to date in the occupational areas that they are interested in, not to mention how they could be used to develop daily reading habits (or as Carr would claim, a daily skimming habit) or to make the research in research projects more efficient.
