Revelation #1 – Media is not good or bad; it is both. This was a revelation to me because even though I work in a “Technology Center”, some of my colleagues tout media and technology as the great evil that is in the process of destroying their nostalgic sense of the way things were and ought to be. On the flip side, the students I work with usually tout media and technology as the panacea to all the world’s problems. I know that both of their positions contain inherent dangers but I struggled to find an explanation that could be a catalyst to bring them away from the dangers and into a truthful balance of understanding. Understanding that media is both good and bad, could be such a catalyst.
